Welcome to Kindergarten! We will start the year by encouraging students to listen and follow directions. "Good manners" and "good friends" will be important topics!

In our Kindergarten:

  • We share everything.
  • We play fair and take turns.
  • We are kind to one another. Friends are important and worth keeping.
  • We listen to one another. When we're working on a problem, two heads are better than one.
  • We put things back where they go.
  • We tell people how we feel about the things we do.
  • We exercise our bodies every day. It helps us feel better and makes us ready to learn.
  • We have people read to us every day. It opens the world to us.
  • We experiment with writing. It will help us to remember things.
  • We sing, dance and draw pictures. It makes learning fun.
  • We look everywhere. We talk to one another. We notice things.
  • We take care of our classroom.

Kindergarten Bell Schedule

Dear Kindergarten Parents,

Welcome to Green Valley!  Each year I receive many email messages about the Bell Schedule and I want to make sure everyone understands how the year begins at Green Valley.  Kindergarten is a big milestone for your child and for you.

Our program always starts with a very short day, 8:40-10:15 amThis is a time for parents and children to meet the teacher together and get to know each other. Beginning on the second day of school, through Friday, August 25th, the Kinder classes run from 8:40 am to 12:00 pm.  This provides an opportunity for the Kindergarten staff to ease students into the extended day and is a long standing “tradition” of Green Valley’s Kindergarten program.

Starting Monday, August 28th, the Kindergarten classes will begin normal hours - from 8:40 am to 12:30 pm.

The entire Kindergarten team and I look forward to meeting you and your children on Monday, August 14th.  This is an exciting time of year and we are busy getting ready to embrace your young learners.

Donna Grim, Principal

Morning Drop-Off

Your child should go directly to the Kindergarten yard. However children should not be on campus alone before 8:30 am because there is no supervision in the Kindergarten yard until that time. Please stay with your child until supervision arrives at 8:30 am. When the bell rings (at 8:35 am), your child will line up outside their classroom.

At dismissal, the children are instructed to stay inside the Kindergarten classrooms until their ride arrives. Please be prompt picking up! No students are allowed outside the classroom area without a parent or child-care person.

Snack Time

Please send a healthy snack and drink to school with your child every day; even if they say they don’t want it.

Each week your child will receive a Letter Page that supports our Language Arts program. Please take the time to sit with your child as he/she works on this. It is a great opportunity to learn the proper formation and letter sounds. Look for these pages near the end of September. In addition to the weekly letter page, we will send home a monthly Home Fun Calendar and a Math at Home packet. These are OPTIONAL. However they do reinforce Kindergarten Standards.
