Principal's November Newsletter
Posted 11/4/19

Dear Green Valley Community,

November with its emphasis on gratitude is my favorite time of year.  After a very challenging week with many lessons learned, it is time to lean into the enjoying the season and the learning.  Our 5th graders are leaving for camp tomorrow morning.  This is one of the culminating moments of the elementary experience and I know they will have an amazing time.

Tomorrow evening, our PTA has put together a parent education evening based on understanding student strengths.  This is a great opportunity to learn more about how strengths based education can be used at home and how our school is growing its culture to support student learning through their strengths.  Our belief in helping student's build on what is strong not wrong is at the heart of this important work.  Our event takes place from 6:30-8:00 PM.  Please come join us.

The Kindergarten Play Yard Committee met recently to look over plans for the rest of the yard renovation.  Many ideas were incorporated into drawings and we will meet one or two more times to finalize what is truly going to be the finishing touch to our campus.  As soon as the plans are formalized, I will make sure people can see them around campus and on our web page.  Along with this news, I recently found out we will be replacing the back padlocked gates with "panic release" gates.  Erin Hirst, our project manager, has the go ahead to pursue this change and we will be talking about it this week.  I'll be sure to let you know the timeline on this improvement as soon as I have it.

Here's to celebrating and enjoying this time for thankfulness.
