About Mr. Templeton

This is my third year as a part of the amazing 5th Grade team at Green Valley. Prior to this I have also taught 4th grade and spent a year as GV's science specialist.

Teaching is a second career for me. Prior to this I spent almost 15 years working in the theater. This is where I get my love of telling stories and learned the value of working as a team in order to create something great! Teaching, though, has always been in my bones - I come from a long line of educators - so when it came time for a career switch, going into the classroom seemed like the perfect choice. I am now in my fifth year and could not be happier - I have truly found my passion. Particularly exciting to me is Green Valley's move towards focusing on Project Based Learning. Learning through inquiry will be even more valuable this year as we work hard to establish a strong classroom community.

When not teaching I am enjoying quality time with my daughter, who is in 2nd grade this year. We love to enjoy the great California outdoors - which also includes our ever expanding vegetable garden (more so through this crazy year). In those rare, quiet moments, there is nothing better for me than getting out a good book and reading an afternoon away. I hope to inspire my students to love learning about the world around them as much as I do -  through experiences of their own, or in the never ending adventures of literature. My goal is to help to create lifelong learners.

I am working to keep all of my communication and information in one easy place for your access, so I have created a class website. Please use the link below to access this site and check it for when you have a question or need access to information.

I am looking forward to a great year!
