    Annual Spelling Bee!

2nd Annual Spelling Bee will be in January and February.

Start studying the lists over break  here.

Classroom rounds will take place at the end of January, with winners competing in a school-wide bee in the MPR on February 13 at 3:15 pm. Our GVES winner will advance to the East Bay Times Spelling Bee on March 23, and compete to reach the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington D.C. Students who wish to participate can prepare by studying the word lists. This is a great opportunity for students to have fun and challenge themselves while improving their spelling skills. Please contact Elizabeth Weiss with any questions: 415-760-5995 or

    GV's 1st Battle of the Books 3rd - 5th graders

America's Battle of the Books is a reading incentive program for students in 3rd thru 12th grades. Students read books and come together in groups to demonstrate their abilities and test their knowledge of the books they have read. The student competitions are usually similar to the TV series Family Feud or Whiz Kids styles of competitions. It's a fun way to build reading confidence and celebrate reading success!
